The City of Battle Creek is looking for an energetic individual to work as an Accounts Receivable Clerk in our Treasurer's Department performing support work receiving and disbursing money, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the City Treasurer.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains and operates a cash drawer. Collects and processes payments. Reconciles balances, posts to and maintains bookkeeping and other records.
- Provides customer services in person and on the phone by answering questions, providing information, and directing customers appropriately and takes payments.
- Performs routine clerical work such as sorting mail, preparing various documents, and assisting others in the division as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2 years experience in clerical or bookkeeping work.
- 1 year experience operating a cash register.
Special Requirements:- Valid driver's license in the State of Michigan.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:This work is sedentary and requires little to no exertion of force; work regularly requires sitting, bending, reaching, hand dexterity (grasping, holding, keyboarding, repetitive movements), reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, seeing (near and/or far, color, depth, field of vision), hearing, using the telephone, contact with the general public, and working inside and alone; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
