Responsible for the overall operations and administration of the laboratory and for assuring compliance with all applicable regulations. Responsible to ensure all delegated duties are properly performed.
- Demonstrates competence in and is able to assess the competence of others as Phlebotomy Technician. Including providing excellent customer service, specimen collection, processing and transport of specimens.
- Utilizes leadership skills to organize and perform testing and facilitate overall function of the laboratory. Demonstrates competence and is able to assess the competence of others in ensuring acceptable performance in test analysis, quality control, analyzer-calibration, maintenance and reporting of test results.
- Oversees the quality assurance/ management program of the laboratory. Ensures that quality control and quality assessment programs have been established and maintained to identify failures in quality. Reviews monthly the Quality data to ensure acceptable analytical accuracy is maintained and remedial actions are taken, when the system deviates from performance specifications. Is able to comprehend advanced understanding of Quality-Assurance, 6-sigma and process improvement. Is able to propose and lead process improvement projects.
- Monitors inventory of testing supplies in designated area. Recognizes and provides input for opportunities for improvements in financial performance and productivity.
- Selects test methodologies, validates test procedures and performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system. Ensures laboratory is enrolled in appropriate proficiency testing and testing personnel follows procedures.
- Responsible for hiring, orientation, educational needs, performance reviews and disciplinary functions of Laboratory Technicians and Laboratory Scientists.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Physical, Biological Sciences or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution with MT/MLS certification.
Licensure/Certification: Medical Laboratory Technician Certification Preferred.
