Position Summary:
Perform all routine technical procedures, assist with phlebotomy duties as needed, organize work priorities, judge the adequacy of submitted specimens, and request additional specimens if necessary. Interrupt testing for STAT procedures, recheck questionable results, and notify supervisors when additional personnel are required. Supervise work performed in the section when acting as the technologist in charge, especially on weekends and holidays. Supervise trainees in bench work activities and assist in meeting inspection agency requirements. Treat patients of all age groups professionally, maintain positive interpersonal relationships, and provide excellent customer service.
Position Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology preferred. Six months of technical experience required, with three or more years preferred. Good verbal and written communication skills and basic computer skills are required.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
Current Florida license as a technologist in Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, and Serology. Blood Bank or all areas (or eligible) is required.
Communication Skills:
Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with all levels of the organization.
