POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting surgeons in the management of patients and performing diagnostic, therapeutic, and intraoperative procedures under the supervision of the surgeon. To work closely with and assist the surgeon in providing quality, efficient, and cost-effective care during the patient’s hospitalization. To ensure continuity between clinical practice and standards of care as well as promote and aid in patient preparation for procedures progressing towards discharge. Knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring of, and compliance with all regulatory and licensing agencies, including but not limited to JCAHO, OSHA, ACHA, CMS, etc.
CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of the section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians, and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful, and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):
- Education: Completion of an approved and accredited surgical assisting training program.
- License: Certification Surgical First Assistant
- Current BLS Certification
- Experience: Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a Certified Surgical Assistant
- Excellent human relations and/or written communication skills.
