Job Summary
This position supports the VP and Controller. Primary responsibilities include coordinating activities related to all financial period closings, recording financial transactions and coordinating activities related to the financial reporting and other financial operations of TriWest. Provide guidance, supervision, and assistance to the Accounting staff with direct oversight over the general ledger, financial reporting, accounts payable, and payroll functions. Oversight also includes recording and monitoring of change order accounting as well as ensuring expense transactions are in compliance with Cost Accounting Standards. Assists in resolution of contractual issues. Works with the VP, Controller on other financial activities of the Company such as purchasing, budget processes, and year-end audits and plays a key role in the development of cost proposals.
Education & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Accounting or a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in accounting
- Ten (10) years in Accounting and/or financial analysis and/or government contract administration or equivalent background
Preferred:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Government contract administration experience
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize and direct the activities of the Financial Reporting and Financial operations of TriWest.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail regarding the recording and coding of financial transactions in compliance with GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards.
- Ensure the timely close of all financial periods and distribution of the Financial Statements.
- Coordinates the dissemination of financial statements and other reporting to management and the Board of Directors.
- Coordinate the dissemination of information and reports related to TriWest’s accounting, budgeting, cash control, and other financial functions.
- Perform Balance Sheet analysis and reconciliation of general ledger activity.
- Coordinate financial system interaction with other internal and external systems.
- Prepare and review journal entries.
- Establish and monitor financial and procedural controls and coordinate TriWest’s audits with external parties.
- Supervision and mentoring of accounting staff.
- Oversees payroll function.
- Assists in development of and execution of costing methods for change orders.
- Participates in development of cost proposals including those related to contract modifications and those related to new contracts.
- Maintains Disclosure Statement and rate model in support of Company cost proposal activities.
- Works with Contract Administration and assists in resolution of contractual issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Technical Skills: Knowledge of GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards; knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations; working knowledge of health care government contracts; expertise with financial analysis and reporting; proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PeopleSoft.
Working Conditions
- Works within a standard office environment, with minimal travel.
- Extensive computer work with prolonged periods of sitting.
