Claims Specialist, Property & Specialty (Hybrid Work Model)
Are you a Claims Specialist with 1-3 years of Property and Casualty Claims experience and an interest in career development? If so, this role may be for you! We are looking for a strategic thinker with leadership skills who has a desire to further hone this skillset and continue to grow their Claims career.
About the Role
This role has responsibility for handling Property, Excess & Surplus (E&S) and General Agents (MGA) Program claims while also supporting internal and external customers. You will manage a caseload of claims from receipt to final resolution and direct independent adjusters, appraisers, experts and coverage/defense counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain strong client focus by aggressively and proactively researching issues, providing support and assuring client satisfaction in a timely fashion.
- Support Underwriting team needs for Claim information and consultation on coverages.
- Investigate, evaluate and settle claims, applying technical knowledge and people skills to effect fair and prompt claim resolution.
- Complete detailed reviews of claim related issues, including coverage, liability and damage and document the claim file appropriately.
- Set and maintain appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves.
- Formulate and execute negotiation and resolution strategies.
- Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.
About the Team
Our team is comprised of 4 separate units across the United States and Canada. The team handles Commercial Property, E&S and MGA Program claims both domestically and internationally with a strong emphasis on quality and customer service. - You bring superior interpersonal, written & verbal communication skills enabling your past and future success in building and maintaining relationships!
- You are comfortable interacting directly with insureds, brokers, Public Adjusters, attorneys, and key stakeholders at any level.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
- 1-3 years Property and Casualty Claims handling experience.
- Possess solid coverage, liability, damage investigation, evaluation and claims resolution skills; must have excellent negotiation skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and experience collaborating with underwriters, clients, brokers and internal and external business partners.
- Strong data analytic skills.
- Hardworking sales mindset, applying consultative selling skills to develop insights, propose solutions and build growth opportunities for clients and Swiss Re.
- Experience with handling claims in a paperless environment.
- Interest in developing leadership and management skills.
- Possess, or willing to obtain, adjuster licenses as needed for various jurisdictions.
- Ability to successfully deliver the Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Claims Commitment.
This role includes travel to attend loss site inspections, client/broker meetings, claim settlement meetings, and underwriting meetings as necessary.
