Job Objective: Provide accounting services for select corps/units to include receipting, disbursements, review, reporting and budgeting assistance. Position will be assigned units with an advanced degree of difficulty.
Essential Functions:
- Review accounts payable and receipting entries completed by Processors.
- Create accounts receivable invoices as required for assigned units.
- Process, code and record complex invoices and reimbursement requests.
- File monthly sales tax returns for units as required.
- Prepare and input journal entries following established accounting procedures.
- Perform bank account reconciliations for non-assigned locations.
- Review ledgers associated with related funds and accounts.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
- Prepare monthly financial statements to be reviewed by the Accounting Manager with final completion by the 15th of the month.
- Input annual and revised corps/unit budgets into accounting software.
- Prepare written reviews of the budgeted variances on a monthly and as needed basis.
- Maintain records within established Salvation Army policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Business administration and finance courses desirable. Courses in computer-based accounting very helpful.
Experience: Two years in the accounting field, including computer utilization preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel & e-mail.
- Position requires a confident, self-motivated, multi-tasked individual with integrity in the use of resources.
- Demonstrate ability as a team-builder and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Act in a manner consistent with the Mission Statement of The Salvation Army.
- Must be a highly organized, detail-oriented (accuracy) self-starter able to meet deadlines.
- Strong Communication skills are necessary.

Physical Requirements: Include good speaking, hearing and vision ability and excellent manual dexterity. Ability to stand, bend and reach for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment. Driving: Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical office environment. Full-time position; may require some weekend and evening work.
