Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for administering the internal accounting activities of ABC Nebraska/South Dakota and its Apprenticeship & Training Trust. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, grants management, and financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Reporting to the President and CEO, the Accounting Manager will play a key role to manage financial processes and support the organization’s goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & Financial Operations
- Manage all bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Manage and process payments using BILL.com and QuickBooks Online to streamline workflows and maintain accuracy.
- Prepare checks semi-monthly for approval by the President/CEO.
- Review and process staff expense reports for accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and mail invoices on a monthly basis, including annual dues invoices.
- Oversee collections on past-due accounts to maintain cash flow.
Payroll & Employee Benefits
- Prepare and manage payroll for ABC Nebraska/South Dakota staff and apprentice instructors to ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Maintain employee benefit records, including 401(k), insurance, paid time off, W-2s, and 1099s.
- File quarterly and annual tax reports, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Grant Management, Budgeting & Financial Reporting
- Accurate insights into the organization's financial position.
- Review all general ledger accounts monthly to ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Work with the President/CEO and department directors to develop and oversee the annual operating budget.
- Utilize QuickBooks Online to track budgets, expenses, and revenue streams, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational goals.
Compliance & Auditing
- Coordinate with the chapter-appointed CPA for year-end financial reviews of both the chapter and Apprenticeship Trust.
- Ensure timely filing of ABC National Chapter Dues reports and other regulatory filings.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP standards in all financial operations, audits, and filings.
PAC & Regulatory Reporting
- Manage the separate PAC bank account and file required PAC disclosure reports with ABC National and the states of Nebraska and South Dakota.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant PAC-related regulations.
Apprenticeship Trust
- Coordinate invoicing and payment processing in consultation with the Registrar for the Apprenticeship & Training Trust.
Other Responsibilities
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the President/CEO to support the organization's financial health and operational goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, with strong knowledge of payroll, tax filing, and financial reporting.
- Experience in non-profit or association management accounting is a plus.
- Proficient in accounting software and financial management systems (e.g., QuickBooks, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
