Senior Financial Accountant, Compliance and Reporting
Wanted: Senior Financial Accountant for contemporary and progressive WA Government agency; financial reporting and compliance role.
About the role
Landgate is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to work closely with its senior leaders to provide a range of complex accounting services to Landgate’s internal and external customers. The role is focused on financial reporting and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, Accounting Standards and audit requirements.
Landgate, as a recently partially commercialised WA government Statutory Authority, is highly reliant on its ICT delivery and investments, presenting a unique financial accounting environment.
This varied role presents an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified accountant to contribute towards great outcomes for our customers. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to drive improvements to finance processes, increase the use of contemporary technologies across the agency and challenge our thinking as our finance function continues to evolve along with Landgate.
Our ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge across a range of areas including:
- Annual financial reporting
- Accounting standards and financial policy
- Financial control
- System and Chart of Accounts management
- Investment portfolio management
- Government operational and capital funding
- IT project accounting
- Indirect and direct taxation
- Actuarial liability assessment
Role Requirements
To be successful in this role, please demonstrate:
- Possession of a tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or a related field and/or membership of an appropriate professional accounting body (including CA/CPA or equivalent).
- Substantial experience in financial accounting and reporting within a modern financial environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain accounting standards and their financial impacts to a range of audiences.
- Sound judgement and emotional intelligence to navigate relationships, overcome barriers and negotiate to resolve issues and conflicts.
- A focus on continuous improvement to uncover problems, envisage improvements, suggest ideas, evaluate solutions and remain determined to implement them in the face of challenges.
