Manager, Accounting Systems & Property Accounting
Job Summary
The Manager, Accounting Systems & Property Accounting is responsible for the comprehensive management of strategic enhancements through process and system improvements for the Accounts Payable (AP), Property Accounting (POPA), Fixed Assets (FA), and Lease Accounting teams. The role includes cross-functional collaboration to identify, report, and test system defects or enhancements. This position will also lead the Fixed Asset and Lease Accounting teams and act as the owner of AMC's Capitalization Policy.
This position is based in Leawood, KS and is not eligible for relocation.
Job Description
What you will be doing:
- Identify, develop, and implement process and system improvements for AP, POPA, FA, and Lease Accounting teams.
- Prioritize and coordinate the testing of system defects or enhancements, working closely with IT project managers.
- Manage domestic compliance with lease accounting standards including providing guidance and review of monthly lease activity & reconciliations.
- Provide guidance as the owner of AMC's Capitalization Policy to other departments and project teams, ensuring compliance with the policy.
- Participate in project teams to ensure adherence to GAAP standards.
- Collaborate with IT to determine testing plans, timelines, user acceptance testing (UAT), defect testing, and patch testing for the Accounting Department.
- Supervise the Fixed Asset and Lease Accounting teams, providing day-to-day direction.
What we need from you:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3+ years of management experience.
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- Ability to interpret relevant accounting rules and regulations, including strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC Regulations and how they may impact various business scenarios.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various levels throughout the organization, including senior leadership.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, while applying accounting expertise.

- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or public accounting experience.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) or master's degree.
- Demonstrated process development skills.
