Position Summary/Objective
The Yard Manager is responsible for receiving and shipping functions of the yard. This includes all personnel and the incoming and outgoing materials for our customers. Schedule and oversee the loading of all deliveries and customer pickups.
Job Duties Responsibilities:
- Execution of Shipping/Receiving Schedule:
- Schedules and plans deliveries based on materials in stock or expected receiving arrival dates. Coordinates delivery schedules with sales personnel in order to meet customer delivery commitments.
- Maintaining and nurturing relationships with vendors.
- Schedule and oversee the loading of all deliveries and customer pickups.
- Provides direction and supervises the day-to-day work activities of forklift drivers, yard staff, receiver and shipper.
- Delegates responsibilities for specific tasks, trains, schedules personnel, provides performance feedback and monitors level of customer service.
- Check loads for accuracy.
- Unload and stock inventory coming into the yard. Keep the lumber yard in a neat and organized manner.
- Oversee the reconciliation of PSC equipment (lumbers, rubbers, tarps, etc.).
- Inventory Cycle Counting:
- Perform cycle inventory counts along with regular physical inventory of materials and locations.
- Monitor yard inventory and request product as needed.
- Manage securement inventory (physically and systematically) for Operations.
- Shipping/Receiving Paperwork:
- Records all received shipments and ensures they are stored in the correct area or stages for later warehousing. Maintains receiving and shipping records.
- Supervises the loading of delivery trucks and resolves any questions on vehicle condition, load stability and DOT related issues.
- Daily documentation and reporting of inventory levels, material receipts and material transfers.
- Able to receive delivery trucks from vendors of material and merchandise. Must check for damage, incomplete orders, and sign for receipt of order.
- Coordinates receiving documents, damage reports, customer pick-ups/returns, defective items, and stock levels with purchasing department.
- Document, take pictures, and report damages to company trailers and loads.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) in Logistics, Business Management, Supply Chain or related field.
- Experience with 5S and Lean Operations Environment.
- 5 plus years of experience in distribution.
- Able to drive forklift.
- Experience supervising processes and safety protocols.
Physical Requirements:

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is almost always exposed to outside weather conditions (hot weather during summer months and cold weather during winter months).
- The employee in this job is frequently required to lift and carry for a moderate distance item over 100 pounds.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk prolonged distances throughout the day and climb heights over 6 feet.
- The employee is frequently exposed to heavy equipment such as delivery vehicles or fork trucks.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to noisy.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 per year
