As an Excise Tax Examiner 2, In-training (In-training level is at Excise Tax Examiner 1) in the Audit division and a member of the Account Research and Desk Examination (ARDE) Unit, you will perform and resolve a full range of financial examinations. Your verification of business accounts, tax returns, audit reports and other activity records will be used to validate correct tax liability. You will also support the taxpayer or their representative regarding proper reporting and compliance of tax laws and policies.
Here are some other responsibilities:
- Work with unregistered businesses who voluntarily register to pay prior tax obligations.
- Assess the tax reporting responsibility of unregistered business leads.
- Perform pre-audit planning activities.
- Provide technical support to department staff.
- Monitor mission critical tax reporting systems to ensure account integrity and data accuracy.
- Continually monitor the department's tax accounting systems for weaknesses and effectiveness.
- Assist field audit personnel in research activities.
Will obtain a Bachelor's degree or higher involving major study in business, accounting, public administration, or closely related field by June 2025.
OR
Three years professional experience in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, banking, compliance, or tax administration.
*Accounting or auditing experience may be substituted year for year for education.
