As part of Mud Bay’s Finance and Accounting team, the Accounting Manager will be well-versed in payroll (Fed, WA, and OR) and general accounting. They will work as part of a team, as well as independently. This will include ensuring that muddies are paid accurately and on time, partnering with our accounts receivable and accounts payable team, and providing support in the month-end close process.
Job Description:
- Assist and lead monthly processes (this may include reconciliations, accruals and other balance sheet adjustments).
- Partner with other accounting team members such as accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Accounting general ledger and payroll healthcare benefit and deduction reconciliations.
- Manage non-inventory PO process.
- Participate in UKG Dimensions implementation.
- Work closely with payroll team processing bi-weekly multi-state payroll (WA and OR), including auditing timesheets for accuracy and calculating garnishments.
- Ensure that mandatory and voluntary withholdings and deductions, including federal and state taxes, healthcare premiums, 401K contributions, are accurately calculated and reported to various groups and agencies.
- Accurate and timely processing of new hires, terminations, and changes to employees’ withholdings and bank information.
- Review premiums and attestations for Seattle and Oregon secure scheduling laws.
- Responsible for reconciling and issuing W2s to employees, federal, and state authorities.
- Respond to garnishment orders and verification of employment requests in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Who We Are Looking For:
Someone who...
- Is detail-oriented and organized.
- Has experience with UKG or another larger workforce management software.
- Experience with NetSuite is preferred, but not required.
- Has an Associate or Bachelor's Degree.
- Has participated in month-end close processes.
- 3+ years of experience processing WA/OR payroll and knowledge of payroll taxes preferred, but not required.

- Lives and Works in the PNW. Our Accounting Manager lives within Mud Bay's retail geography and works in Mud Bay’s Home Office, in Olympia, WA, 2-3 days/week and may work remotely the balance of their time. All hybrid schedules are subject to the needs of the business and require supervisor approval.
- Primary team. Our Accounting Manager is a member of Mud Bay’s Accounting and Payroll Teams and reports to a Senior Accountant.
- Direct reports. No positions are reporting to the Accounting Manager.
- Compensation. The hourly wage for this position ranges from $28.26 to $42.38, depending on qualifications and experience.
