As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role within our Finance team, supporting the Group Finance Manager.
This role is responsible for providing high quality, accurate and timely financial accounting support to ensure compliance, enhance decision making and achieve business goals. A key focus of this role will be to apply a challenging mindset with a view to improve and enhance processes and controls.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform monthly reporting of lease portfolio for the group and ensure compliance of IFRS 16 lease accounting standard
- Prepare weekly/monthly/ad-hoc journal entries to ensure accuracy and completeness of the P&L and Balance Sheet
- Perform month-end processes with a focus on ensuring the accuracy of all reconciliations
- Assist with preparation of annual and half-yearly financial reports
- Forecasting and budgeting for group expense
- Conduct analysis of the general ledger on a monthly or ad-hoc basis, identifying variances against budget (or forecast) and last year and providing commentary explaining material variances
- Prepare reports, reconciliations and supporting schedules for external audit team
- Interpret, analyse and explain financial results to assist in building accountability and driving finance performance
- Comply with internal controls while driving process improvement and best practices
- Responsible for the implementation and delivery of an effective control environment, through the cascade of group policies and procedures
- Lead, develop and mentor financial accountants
Key requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance / Accounting
- CPA/ CA (or studying towards) desirable but not mandatory
- BPCS – Accounting ERP
- Ability to analyse data and information and translate it into business insights
- Understanding of stakeholder engagement
- Ability to frame a problem and influence an outcome
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel
