To support this, we are currently looking for a Director of Investment Accounting in our Warren, New Jersey headquarters.
You will interact and support several aspects of accounting, financial analysis, and reporting for the group. This is a remote-hybrid position where you are required to be in the office three days a week and the remaining days you can work from home.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Accounting and reporting of investments on a GAAP and Statutory basis.
- Support the management of the monthly and quarterly investment close process.
- Preparation and or review of various U.S. statutory investment schedules.
- Preparation and or review of various U.S. GAAP investment disclosures.
- Support local reporting of foreign branches and subsidiaries.
- Coordinate with financial reporting and investment management teams.
- Support the preparation of standard and ad-hoc reports for senior leadership.
- Establishing and maintaining internal controls.
- Research accounting issues for new investment structures and coordinate any changes required in workflow and operations.
- Assist with the review of fair value of investments and related impairment analysis.
- Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses along with account reconciliations.
- Assist with ad-hoc analyses and strategic projects determined by the needs of senior management.
Work Experience and Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in accounting; public accounting and public company reporting environment a plus.
- Solid understanding of investment accounting and reporting under U.S. GAAP.
- Experience with U.S. insurance statutory accounting and reporting a plus.
- Leadership skills and ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly skilled in math, accounting, and financial processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail oriented and highly organized.
- Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Highly proficient with Excel.
- Excellent critical thinking skills.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent degree) in accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (or equivalent certification) preferred.
- Knowledge of PAM and Bloomberg a plus.
- Insurance/ reinsurance industry experience a plus.
