JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Human Resources Employment Consultant serves as the Human Resources (HR) recruiter within the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center under the direction of the Director of Employment and Records. This position is responsible for recruiting and sourcing talent. In addition to finding top talent, this position collaborates with departments to retain and calibrate department needs including working with departments to train employees on the search process, screening, interviewing, and selection.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Screens all positions in assigned departments, advances candidates meeting the minimum requirements as outlined in requisition to designated HR liaisons and adheres to departmental processes in compliance with UTHSC policies.
- Ensures departments submit justifications for selections and processing for offer approvals through the compensation team, extends offers and benefits, and participates in negotiations with selected candidates.
- Supports the onboarding of employees in one or more employee categories consistent with university policies and procedures.
- Serves as work unit-based HR subject matter expert and provides consultation and assistance to management and administrative staff on a variety of HR policies and issues within the work unit.
- Supports managers and supervisors with recruitment and hiring, job classification and salary administration, employee relations, and performance management.
- Responds to inquiries and/or troubleshoot issues for employees with regards to recruitment.
- Collaborates with departments to understand needs, requirements, and environments for requested positions.
- Research additional avenues for locating active and passive candidates such as alignment with associations, local colleges, job fairs, conferences, seminars, and area meetings.
- Addresses basic HR-related questions and routinely directs employees to the appropriate policies and/or advanced subject matter experts in the Office of Human Resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of diverse experience at the HR professional level covering a range of HR disciplines (employee relations, benefits, and compensation) with a significant focus on recruitment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of recruitment techniques.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations related to employment.
- Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to meet deadlines, make sound decisions, and adapt to changing tasks.
- Excellent computer skills.
