Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant - Cardiology Practice I
APRN / PA I , Cardiology, Indian River Indian River Hospital The Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APRN - Family Certified or PA) for the Cardiology Department to join our team of 4 Advanced Practice Providers and attending physicians.
Responsibilities include inpatient rounding and stress testing. Schedule: 4 - 10 days - rotate Holiday/weekends. If work weekend time off during the week!

Responsibilities:
- Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness.
- Must be able to work with collaborating physician.
- Performs and interprets common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures.
- Performs routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care.
- May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority.
- Performs specialized procedures as directed by the physician.
- Provides information and answers routine questions of patients regarding their disease.
- Educates patients regarding their disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects.
- Participates in medical team rounds; collaborates with nursing, medical and other healthcare team members regularly.
- Refers patients to specialists as appropriate.
- Ensures continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team.
- Assists in data analysis and participates in quality monitoring.
- Facilitates appropriate length of stay, discharge planning and compliance with regulatory standards.
- May serve as clinical preceptor for PA/APRN students.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Master's Degree required if in neonatal care service area.
- APRN: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in applicable state.
- National certification as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by nationally accredited organization.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required.
- PA: Current certification as a Physician Assistant through the NCCPA.
Complexity of Work:
- Excellent analytical and decision making skills are required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated competency in advanced assessment and diagnosis.
Work Experience:
- APRN: Two years clinical nursing experience preferred.
- PA: Two years relative clinical experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands include the ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Manual and finger dexterity to perform physical examinations.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
