We have grown rapidly over the past ten years through a focused acquisition strategy and by capitalizing on the many organic growth opportunities in our industry. We are rapidly evolving the organization from a “portfolio” construct to a more integrated company. We believe we are poised to demonstrate industry leading growth and substantial margin expansion over the next several years. Our plans are focused on operationalizing the strategic priorities that will drive that performance and creating world class process, procedures and internal controls that potentially prepares us for an initial public offering. We are seeking an individual with a strong accounting and financial controls background that can support us on our journey to improve procedures, processes, and internal controls at our international business units. This International Operations Controller role will require close interactions with financial leaders in our international businesses and will also be a key part of the team that financially integrates acquisition targets into the organization. This role will be a key element of our corporate finance team and will report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer.
Responsibilities:
Policies and Procedures:
- Work with the broader finance team to develop and maintain financial policies and procedures.
- Benchmark Filtration Group policies and procedures with external examples to ensure adequacy of all policies and procedures.
- Work with the Vice President of Internal Audit and the Corporate Controllership team to implement Sarbanes Oxley level of internal controls at international business units. Maintain minimum controls compliance standards across the organization.
- Drive execution and compliance of Business Units to key financial and reporting processes, controls and established policies.
- Coordinate the corporate orientation for newly hired international finance leaders.
Operations Controllership:
- Analyze financial trends to identify potential risks and accounting problems at the international business units.
- Establish a risk-based review of business unit account reconciliations based on review of financial results, variance analysis, financial statement trends, or conversations with field personnel.
- Specific focus on:
- Working capital management
- Capitalized inventory variances
- Historical financial statement issues
- Finance personnel capabilities
- Inventory standard costing and excess and obsolete reserves
- Any subjective accounting policy
- Bonus accrual levels
- Appropriate mapping of business units’ general ledger accounts into Planful master chart of accounts
- Revenue recognition/intercompany sales elimination
- Settlement of intercompany transactions
- Operating changes that could be an impairment indicator
- Establish a standard meeting protocol with key financial personnel to stay current on evolving issues.
- Assist in review of quarterly operations financial fluctuation analysis.
- Assist in the implementation of new GAAP as necessary.
- Oversee and review percentage of completion accounting for applicable business units.
- Review internal business units’ statutory to US GAAP reconciliations and investigate large reconciling differences.
- Assist the Business Units and the Corporate Controllership team in the execution and delivery of the independent audit by our external auditors.
- Assist Business Units in the development and solutioning of operational and financial reporting issues as they arise.
Acquisitions:
- Assist in analyzing and modeling acquisitions and related financing transactions.
- Develop and manage process to gather historical financial data from acquired companies to support ongoing analysis and reporting needs and map into corporate financial consolidation tool (Planful).
- Coordinate the load of pro forma financial information in Planful with financial consolidations personnel.
- Assist purchase accounting valuation modeling activity via internal or third-party appraisals.
- Implement Filtration Group financial policies at target company.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA desirable.
- Requires minimum 5-8 years of accounting experience, including a public accounting firm and persons with a combination of public accounting and industry experience with manufacturing controllership preferred
- A strong accounting background with CPA, CMA, its European equivalent,or in the process of pursuing relevant certifications.
- Experience with manufacturing-based companies
- Composed, mature individual comfortable working with financial and operating personnel at all levels.
- Ability to work with consolidation/reporting tools like Planful in order to analyze business unit financial accounting data.
- Demonstrated capability to lead change and generate process improvements leading to greater effectiveness and efficiency.
