Your Role
The Actuarial Pricing team oversees pricing, forecasting, and variance analysis. The Manager, Actuary - Small Business Pricing will report to the Senior Director of Individual and Small Business Pricing. In this role you will lead the quarterly Small Business pricing cycle including coordination with sales, growth, and product. In addition, you will be responsible for forecasting financial performance and analyzing and explaining variance to forecast.

Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Have overall responsibility and accountability for reviewing staff work product related to reserving, CMS/ACA related risk adjustment processes, pricing, forecasting, trend setting, and/or network development and alternative provider payment models.
- Be responsible for developing and managing experience tracking reports, comparisons to plan, tracking and quantifying variances and shares insights with the business unit and management.
- Ensure team follows existing work flow procedures or policies and/or validate or develop new procedures and policies.
- Be responsible for understanding current and emerging regulatory and competitive developments, facilitating communication of these developments, and ensuring processes and procedures are consistent with changing regulations.
- Lead special projects/committees/task forces.
- Manage quarterly rate filings with the state and their actuaries.
- Understand drivers of cost increases and membership growth and develop strategies to improve performance.
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Requires a bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, computer science or equivalent experience.
- Requires at least 7 years prior relevant job including 3 years of experience of operating in a team leader role.
- Requires an ASA.
- Requires an understanding of ACA pricing rules including risk adjustment.
- Requires strong communication skills including thought leadership.
- Requires a process oriented approach to get repeated tasks done efficiently.
Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is: $118800.00 to $178200.00 for California.
