We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Environmental Assurance Consultant within our Corporate Assurance team based in Houston, Texas. This position will engage with personnel from all our business lines, including our domestic and international oil and gas operations, our chemicals segment and manufacturing sites, and our low carbon ventures subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing, executing and maintaining an internal audit / compliance assurance program for domestic and international oil and gas environmental regulatory requirements.
- Developing and maintaining environmental regulatory applicability determinations for domestic and international oil and gas operations.
- Leading or participating in compliance assurance / audit activities for environmental media (air, water, waste, remediation) for domestic and international oil and gas operations.
- Compiling complex regulatory requirements both domestically and internationally and identifying commonalities in support of enterprise-wide solutions for efficient compliance assurance.
- Evaluating new technologies and innovative approaches to improve the compliance assurance program for domestic and international assets.
- Monitoring changing regulations and/or emerging trends/issues to keep at the forefront of changing regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining excellent intra-company involvement with cross-functional teams for coordination of environmental compliance assurance activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of related experience in Oil and Gas operations.
- Expertise in domestic environmental law and regulations (e.g., air, water, waste, remediation) at both a federal and state level and knowledge of international requirements.
- Expertise in regulatory trends, regulatory applicability analysis and reporting frameworks across air, water and waste.
- Expertise in environmental compliance auditing / assessments.
- Proficiency in project management with strong influencing skills across all levels of an organization.
- Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent presentation and communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to communicate complex regulatory issues to a broad range of internal stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft suite of applications) for analysis, review and reporting of data.
- Knowledge of greenhouse gas emissions, climate-related risks, environmental issues, social and ESG-related issues, and the domestic and international regulatory reporting landscape.
Travel up to 40% required to domestic and international locations.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) or Certified Environmental Auditor (CEA) certification.
- Expertise of Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Wyoming, and Gulf of Mexico environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of Intelex ACTS, SAP, SANGEA.
