Kearney & Company is seeking an experienced Audit Remediation Senior Consultant to join our Intelligence Community (IC) practice! The Audit Remediation Senior Consultant will demonstrate proficiency with a wide range of audit, accounting, and financial management concepts and apply them to client situations, as well as identify and effectively communicate matters to the Audit Remediation Lead, Partner, Principals, and teammates.
This work will be conducted on site in Springfield, VA.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting our client’s audit response, audit remediation, internal controls, financial processes, and/or accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statements of Federal Financial Accounting Standards (SFFAS), and/or relevant Department of the Treasury and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) policies
- Executing the day-to-day research, analysis, and communication at the direction of the Team and/or Workstream Lead
- Utilizing data analysis technology to analyze information
- Demonstrating excellent writing and communication skills as significant time is spent drafting/updating communication artifacts (e.g., Standard Operating Procedures, Desktop Guides, whitepapers), as well as training business process owners on process and control changes
- Demonstrating strong customer service skills and the ability to work in occasional high-pressure situations with short deadlines
- Directing and reviewing the work of Analysts
- Communicating status of project-related tasks to Team and/or Workstream Lead
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS/BBA degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting or a related relevant field
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, preferably in federal/DoD financial statement auditing, commercial financial statement auditing, and/or DoD/IC financial management experience
- Minimum of 4 years of performing detailed general ledger analysis and/or performing audit remediation
- Technical competency, knowledge, and professional care commensurate with completion of assignments, and an eagerness to learn and absorb new technical and industry-specific information
- Ability to independently research data and reconciling variances
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Active TS/SCI with eligibility for Counterintelligence Polygraph
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA, CISA, CIA, or other relevant-industry certifications, or the required education levels to obtain a relevant certification
- Experience with Fund Balance with Treasury (FBWT) reconciliations, Interagency balance reconciliations, and Financial Reporting
- Experience working with DFAS reporting policy and procedures
- Experience working with DoD’s Advanced Analytics (Advana) platform
- Experience working with DoD disbursing operations
- Experience researching and applying FASAB, OMB, and Treasury requirements including OMB Circular A-136, and/or the Treasury Financial Manual
- Proficient skills in MS Excel
- Experience with SharePoint, SQL, ACL Analytics, Python, and/or Access databases

The expected salary range for this position is between $103,000 and $180,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
