LMI is seeking a skilled Senior Acquisition Consultant - Aviation to support the OSD(Acquisition) Air Platforms and Weapons (APW) office at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. The position requires providing a broad range of support to Government clients focused on mission engineering, acquisition, high-level engagement, and oversight support for air platforms and weapons. The candidate will support the office with high level products to guide coordinated and streamlined weapons acquisition messaging for the F-35 Lightning II aircraft and other activities. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting and support client meetings and related engagements.
This position is onsite at the Pentagon (Arlington, VA).

Responsibilities
- Acquisition/Program Support: Developing and leading briefings at the “executive” level within OSD and the Services. Working with the applicable Service acquisition offices to answer recurring requests for information from ASD(A), USD(A&S), and other OSD principals/organizations, and coordinate OSD and Service actions on the assigned portfolio of programs.
- Reviewing reports, studies, and analyses and prepare observations and recommendations to ensure that senior DoD leadership are informed and presented with comprehensive, integrated, coordinated, and timely appraisals of the portfolio.
- Producing executive level forums, presentations, and point papers. Routing draft documents, coordinating comment resolution and incorporating comments into final version.
- Reviewing key acquisition documents and providing objective assessments of content, adherence to statute, and application of acquisition best practices.
- Coordinating with other OUSD(A&S), OSD, and Joint Staff stakeholders for acquisition and sustainment decisions and documents.
- Scheduling and managing products for recurring senior leader meetings and acquisition decision forums for the Director, APW; DASD(PWPM), ASD(A), and/or USD(A&S).
- Maintaining lists of Points of Contacts in the Services for APW portfolio and programs.
- Requirements Implementation: Maintaining communication with the US Services requirements officers on fleet requirements and integration across a wide range of topics and issues. Assisting in obtaining required analytical products that support formal requirements documents and subsequent acquisition strategies and plans.
- Preparing correspondence packages and responses to APW portfolio and program specific taskers, including Congressional reports, GAO, DoD IG, and other correspondence and reporting as required to ensure strategic communications and alignment across the F-35 Enterprise.
- Providing, supporting and complying with a variety of activities (e.g. required/contractual training, special projects, proposals, data calls, etc.).
- Representing DASD(PWPM) on recurring bi-weekly forums to provide status and progress updates on the Financial Improvement Audit Readiness Corrective Action Program.
- Providing ongoing staff coordination between OUSD A&S, Industrial Base Policy (IBP) and F-35 Joint Program Office regarding notifications received by DoD Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).
Qualifications
- This positions requires a Top Secret (SCI Eligible) Security Clearance
- Bachelors Degree in related field
- 5+ years experience communicating with senior leaders in within the DoD
- 5+ years of DoD acquisition program support
- 5+ years of air warfare subject matter expertise including: knowledge and experience with DoD air warfare technology, air warfare systems engineering, and air warfare operational capabilities
- Experience navigating through competing interests leveraging tact, negotiation skills, problem-solving, and resilience with a focus on meeting organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with the F-35 Lightning Program
- DAWIA (or industry equivalent) certification in program management, contracting, or systems engineering
- Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills to review and implement policies and guidance
- Experience conducting critical qualitative and quantitative data analysis
- Command of Microsoft Office Suite in order to produce executive level briefing materials, presentations and point papers
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience employing electronic business tools to facilitate staffing and assist senior leader decision making
- Experience serving on a Service acquisition headquarters or program office staff performing program management, contracting, or systems engineering on major weapon system program
- Experience planning, organizing, and managing medium and large-scale aviation events and conferences that enable open dialogue between executive-level DoD stakeholders, international partners and industry executives.
