COMPANY PROFILE:
This organization is a physician-owned medical practice specializing in the care of expectant mothers and newborns. They were founded in 2016 by a small group of neonatologists serving a single hospital's NICU. Since then, they have grown to more than 100 providers serving hospitals in multiple states. Their team of board-certified neonatologists, OB hospitalists, and pediatric specialists operate under the core ethic that medicine should be the delivery of consistent, continuous care for mothers, babies, and families. They combine a national infrastructure with local support, using their breadth and depth of clinical and operational resources to allow physicians to spend more time on delivering high-quality care.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position is employed by a private group, with the role based in a medical center in Reno. The facility details are:
- Level 2, transitioning to Level 3 within the next year
- currently operates 12 beds and will be expanding
- average of 1,400 deliveries annually
- average of 1,100 admissions annually
- average daily census of 6.9
The duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
- manage infants born at 32+ weeks gestational age and weighing 1,500+ grams
- oversee convalescing infants after intensive care
- care for infants with moderate illnesses expected to resolve without requiring higher-level care
- manage infants needing mechanical ventilation for less than 24 hours
- stabilize and transfer infants born - care for infants with a gestational age of 34 6/7 weeks or younger
- care for low-weight infants who are not ill but require frequent feeding or extended RN care
- deliver cardiopulmonary resuscitation and continuous cardiac monitoring as needed
- administer supplemental oxygen and intravenous fluids/antibiotics post-transition period
- manage scheduled gavage feedings
This role will also treat infants exposed to perinatal substance abuse, including neonatal abstinence scoring and pharmacologic treatment, and will address any additional circumstances identified by the physician or APPs that warrant NICU level care.
The medical center uses an EHR and clinical assistants are always available to assist providers.
The schedule is a 7 on / 7 off model. On-call is a combination of in-house during the day and on-call overnight. The expected response time is 30 minutes.
