The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the financial activities of our manufacturing operations, including overseeing accounting functions, financial reporting, cost control, and compliance. This role is crucial in supporting the company's financial health and ensuring the accuracy of financial data related to manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), general ledger, and payroll.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Cost Accounting:
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems to track and analyze production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead.
- Conduct cost analysis and variance reporting to identify and address cost-saving opportunities and inefficiencies.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to develop accurate cost estimates and budgets for new projects and products.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with senior management and department heads.
- Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis to ensure alignment with financial goals.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Generate and analyze financial reports related to manufacturing performance, including production costs, inventory valuation, and profit margins.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis and reporting.
- Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory accounting, including tracking inventory levels, cost of goods sold (COGS), and inventory valuation.
- Coordinate with the supply chain and production teams to ensure accurate inventory records and resolve discrepancies.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and provide training to team members.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness in accounting operations.
- Evaluate and upgrade accounting software and systems as needed to support manufacturing activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, manufacturing processes, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
