Description
The Accountant II is responsible for monthly management reporting and quarterly financial reporting to the Parent Company and conducts financial performance review with Parent Company’s Finance team and Planning and Analysis team.
Essential Duties
- Perform general ledger analysis and performance write-up.
- Comply with department policies, procedures, internal controls, and gaming regulations.
- Manage Accountant I and assist Manager/Directors to ensure all deliverables meet deadlines set by the Parent Company.
- Perform month-end closing.
- Schedule monthly balance sheet review session with Director and VP Finance.
- Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital.
- Prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.
- Audit contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepare reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to the monthly close process.
- Establish, modify, document, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
- Document financial transactions by entering account information.
- Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
- Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
- Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents.
- Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
- Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.
- Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Secure financial information by completing database backups.
- Maintain financial security by following internal controls.
- Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
- Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
- Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
- Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential.
- Attend all necessary training meetings.
- Promote positive public and employee relations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English required; a second language is a plus. Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.
Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and inference. Ability to create, read, and analyze spreadsheets of statistical data. Ability to decipher various reports and maintain reports upon request.

- The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. When on the property or in some back of house areas, the noise level increases to loud. Must be able to interact with internal and external guests in a professional manner.
- Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, employees must be able to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
Work/Educational Experience
- Must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school or equivalent diploma, and have the ability to obtain the appropriate license pursuant to the New York State Lottery regulations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
- Three (3) years related work experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred.
