Waste Connec tions is looking for a Assistant Controller to join our team in Denver, CO!
We are a large, publicly-traded solid waste services company that provides non-hazardous waste collection, transfer, disposal and recycling services in mostly exclusive and secondary markets in the U.S. and Canada.
Our Controllers balance the day-to-day accounting functions and forward-looking financial aspects of the business. Our ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of accounting principles, self-directed curiosity to learn every facet of the business, and an interest in developing partnerships with all departments in the company.
Total Comp: $70-85k including bonus opportunities!
Job Duties:
- A strong desire to learn every facet of the accounting process
- Prepare journal entries and financial processes to ensure an accurate General Ledger in accordance with GAAP through a timely month-end close
- Prepare and analyze monthly internal financial statements ensuring accuracy and timely reporting in a complex environment
- Complete account reconciliations monthly, researching and resolving any issues identified
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow
- Perform analysis of actual to forecast/budget variances
- Assist in completing external and internal audits
- Responsible for special projects/reports as assigned
Requirements:
- BS in Accounting or Finance
- 1-3 years accounting experience preferred
- Proficient in MS Office with Advanced Excel skills
- Knowledge of GAAP/Accounting Processes
- Self-motivated, able to handle multiple priorities
- Willing to relocate in the future
