Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Accountant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Senior Manufacturing Accountant to join a South Jersey based dynamic Manufacturing team for the 3rd quarter of 2024. This role is critical in optimizing our financial operations within the manufacturing sector, focusing on cost control, variance analysis, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to drive efficiency, ensure compliance, and support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Accounting and Analysis
- Implement and manage standard and job cost accounting processes to accurately capture production costs.
- Conduct detailed variance analysis to identify and explain discrepancies between actual and expected costs.
- Perform cost rolls for new items and adjust bills of material as necessary. - Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Manage month-end closing activities, including WIP, inventory, and PPV journal entries.
- Support the preparation and review of budgets, providing comparative analysis and explanations. - Inventory Management
- Oversee physical inventory counts and cycle count management to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Analyze inventory adjustments, making corrections as needed to ensure data integrity.
- Conduct slow-moving and obsolete inventory reserve analysis, recommending necessary adjustments. - Process Improvement and KPI Management
- Develop and streamline daily, weekly, and monthly key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance reporting accuracy and timeliness.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize financial processes aligned with organizational goals. - Strategic Financial Support
- Provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Partner with external and internal auditors to address audit concerns and ensure compliance.
- Assist in cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting activities to support financial planning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing accounting.
- Strong technical skills in cost accounting, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, SOX controls, and financial compliance standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Performance Goals:
- Achieve accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting and month-end closing activities.
- Maintain less than 2% variance between actual and standard costs through effective variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal control requirements.
- Drive process improvements that result in a 10% increase in operational efficiency within the first year.
- Provide strategic financial insights that contribute to a 5% reduction in overall manufacturing costs annually.
