The Gig:
The Senior Manager – Revenue Accounting will be responsible for the revenue recognition accounting operations by controlling, balancing and verifying all company revenue and related transactions.
Senior Manager – Revenue Accounting responsibilities include reviewing and approving reconciliations of all revenue account balances and validating revenue transactions including related cost of sale transactions. Ensure general ledger structure and related transactions are accurately posted by appropriate revenue systems, including preparation of month-end flash reports & dashboards and close procedures.
A successful Senior Manager – Revenue Accounting combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. This can be accomplished by utilizing our Work Day Accounting System and other ancillary revenue systems. The ideal candidate will manage a team of skilled professionals in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, demonstrating precision and expertise, in order to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversee revenue recognition in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant accounting standards (e.g. ASC 606)
- Develop and enhance revenue recognition policies and procedures
- Oversee the preparation of the records related to revenue and expense entries.
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating & posting transactions.
- Oversee the reconciliations of revenue & related general ledger balances by comparing reports from ancillary revenue systems with the general ledger in a timely manner.
- Summarize financial status by collecting information; preparing financial reports, assisting with the profit and loss statements and other revenue recognition related statements.
- Oversee the preparation of all daily, weekly, monthly and annual dashboard reports outlining both revenues and expenses for various management levels.
- Drive for process improvement and data enablement to support the team to complete close, reconciliation and financial reporting in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist in ensuring that the financial control environment is strong and sustainable, and supportive of our business growth.
- Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Develop diverse talent to promote team retention to meet current and future business needs; career development opportunities for team.
- Provide support to the Manager of Revenue Accounting.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Other job duties as assigned.
SuperPowers:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
- 8+ years’ experience in tax accounting with a mixture of public and private accounting preferred
- Cruise, travel, or hospitality experience is a plus
- Experience with computerized ledger systems
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Experience managing a small team of accounting professionals
- Familiarity with Work Day General Ledger a plus
