The Director, Accounting must possess strong communication, organizational, leadership, technical accounting, and technology skills. The role is responsible for leading day-to-day operations of the accounting team, including all general accounting; financial reporting/analysis; internal controls; monthly close operations, audit support, and special projects as needed for the Chief Accounting Officer. This position will lead a team of approximately 15 employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Directs the day-to-day actions of the accounting team involving numerous business units.
- Develops, maintains, and enforces accounting policies and procedures.
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates the month-end and year-end close processes, including all general ledger entries and reconciliations.
- Manages and delivers accurate and on-time financial reporting processes, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting (internal management reporting and external stakeholder reporting under US GAAP).
- Communicates financial results with wider stakeholders, including FP&A and stakeholders across the business.
- Identifies opportunities to improve accounting systems and processes.
- Ensures compliance with internal controls and takes a lead role in enhancing current control procedures.
- Manages and supports employee development and growth.
- Provides regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress.
- Aligns individual and team objectives to department and company objectives.
- Receives, organizes, and delegates information and tasks in a fast-growing company.
- Monitors the team’s performance to ensure direct reports meet individual tasks and deadlines and perform to established standards.
- Balances workloads and assignments and appropriately delegates responsibilities to staff.
- Provides a positive and engaging work environment.
- Supports the potential implementation of a new ERP system.
- Provides tasks and assignments that challenge and stretch employees’ responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:Education/Licensing/Certification: - Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA with Big 4 experience highly preferred
Experience: - 10 years or more years corporate accounting experience with increasingly responsible management experience with a public or private company required
- 5 years or more managing people and processes required
- Strong financial reporting, and consolidation experience
- Strong finance and tax knowledge is a plus
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word, and Outlook
Knowledge and Skills: - Has a proven track record of successful management of projects and teams and the ability to manage under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced, changing environment.
