Purpose Of The PositionThe Corporate Services (CS) Applications team specialist is responsible for leading business improvement initiatives, gathering requirements, providing subject matter expertise on strategic asset processes, and driving resolution to complex business issues to improve our systems and technology. In this role, you will engage and collaborate with different departments such as Legal, Communication and Media Relations, Police and Security, and Environmental Risk, to identify opportunities to utilize technology to enable streamlined processes by acknowledging and understanding people, process and technology. The role supports various CS systems within CPKC. This position will require providing service, building and maintaining relationships with the business and functioning as a team player. You will also assist with the historic CP and KCS integration.
Position Accountabilities- Gather requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, design thinking, task and workflow analysis.
- Roadmap development assistance – work with senior business leaders and Enterprise/Solution Architects to identify, elaborate and plan future integration and transformation programs and initiatives.
- Facilitate process improvement through simplification, standardization, and automation processes/solutions.
- Business case development – work with business leaders, portfolio management, Enterprise Architecture, and IT delivery teams to develop business cases and funding requests supporting the roadmap.
- Knowledge and expertise to figure out business needs in areas such as Legal, Communication and Media Relations, Police and Security, and Environmental Risk.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, earn trust, and build credibility becoming a trusted advisor for the organization.
- Lead discussions across the organization to optimize/influence decision making, and drive value.
- Demonstrate CPKC’s leadership competencies.
- Ability to develop and manage change management tactical plans based on strategy documents.
- Ability to adjust to changing priorities and manage customer expectations.
Position Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Mechanical or related field required.
- 7+ years’ experience with gathering requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements and process mapping workshops, surveys, business process descriptions, task and workflow analysis.
- 7+ years’ experience in facilitating process improvement through simplification, standardization, and automation processes/solutions.
- 2+ years’ experience in developing strategic plans, roadmaps and business cases, having completed multiple projects.
- Experience with organizational change management.
NICE TO HAVE- Lean or Six Sigma experience is an asset.
- Experience using Design Thinking methodologies to generate innovation is an asset.
- Applied understanding of data science.
