This recruitment is only open to current County of San Bernardino, Fire Department, or Special District employees who hold a regular, intern, contract, extra-help, recurrent, Public Service Employee, or Work Experience Program (WEX) position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Principal Administrative Analyst will manage special and/or sensitive projects and perform complex and specialized analysis related to policies and processes that have countywide impact. This position will provide support to the County Administrative Office (CAO) by:
- Communicating between the CAO and department heads; assisting in the preparation, analysis and review of reports and recommendations to be presented to the Chief Executive Officer.
- Coordinating the Board Agenda Item review and submission process; providing training and guidance to department submitters; writing and reviewing Board Agenda Items and contracts before final submission to the Board.
- Managing special projects and leading countywide initiatives; conducting highly complex and specialized research and analysis of processes, policies and procedures; developing and presenting information and recommendations related to current and proposed policies and operations.
- Assisting in preparing for, and attending Board meetings; attending, leading and/or providing staff support at County committee meetings including Policy Review and SB Safe committees; representing the county at various community and regional meetings.
This position is in the Unclassified Service and serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority; it does not attain regular status in County employment.

Desired Qualifications
Highly qualified candidates will have three to five years of progressively responsible experience managing special projects and performing complex and specialized analysis related to policies and processes that have organization-wide impact, and possess a bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by the US Department of Education in Public/Business Administration, Behavioral/Social Science, or other relevant field.
- Have experience coordinating with or within an executive office, regarding issues related to operations, policies, processes and procedures
- Be familiar with the Board Agenda process and have experience developing/writing Board Agenda Items, contracts and agreements
- Have an understanding of contracts, including interpretation, application and enforcement
- Have experience leading and coordinating projects and initiatives that involve multiple stakeholders
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be attentive to detail, and able to make wise decisions and provide sound recommendations
- Able to handle multiple projects, adapt to change and lead and promote successful collaboration to achieve desired outcomes
