The primary purpose of this position is to provide advanced actuarial analyses, based upon generally accepted actuarial principles, and to provide direction and oversight of more junior level actuaries. The completed analyses will be used by internal business leaders for data-based decision making. These analyses may relate to various areas of actuarial expertise, including: Pricing, Reserving, Reinsurance, Corporate Reporting, or combinations of these areas. At this level, solid communication skills are essential.
Essential Functions:
- Preparing and presenting material explaining actuarial concepts and findings.
- Providing guidance to non-actuaries on actuarial principles and concepts.
- Representing the Department on cross-functional teams.
- Supporting corporate goals and principles, and communicating those to more junior staff.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge and experience using SQL, Excel, Access, R and Python.
- Annual statement familiarity.
- Strong knowledge of actuarial techniques and methodologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Team player with analytical, quantitative and leadership abilities.
Experience/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Business or similar field.
- Credentialed actuary (ACAS or FCAS); will consider a candidate that is nearly credentialed if candidate has considerable number of years of applicable experience.
- 4-5 years of Actuary experience.
- Prior experience in reserving.
