The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are looking for a Construction Project Accountant to be a part of our growing Energy division in Denver, CO to drive financial processes and develop process improvement by engaging our internal and external customers. Additionally, some responsibilities you will have include:
Project Management and Process Improvement
- Lead project level accounting efforts, including complete customer billings and tracking project costs.
- Ensure quality of project financials.
- Participate in efforts to improve capabilities, process improvement and technology that enable the team to scale effectively.
- Maintain high integrity of crucial infrastructure data and solve important business problems through data analysis.
- Analyze data for anomalies, trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Deliver accurate, high quality and timely results.
- Manage administrative project workflow including active work and forecast work; backlog of work and be responsible for project deliverables within required deadlines.
- Schedule, lead and/or coordinate meetings as requested and ensure tracking and follow-up of resulting action items. Take meeting notes as needed.
- Analyze and manage project operating expenses with third party suppliers, including obtaining internal financial approvals and controlling cash disbursements.
- May perform other coordination activities as requested.
Cross-functional Relationships & Customer Satisfaction
- Develop and maintain professional internal client relationships across departments and geographies.
- Participate in cross-departmental and corporate committees and teams.
- Coordinate project activities across team members and departments in a timely manner.
- Serves as back-up to the Lead Business Operations Specialist as needed.
Communication
- Communicate with and coordinate McKinstry internal resources to meet project deliverables.
- Communicate with McKinstry internal clients as needed to achieve shared business objectives.
- Responsible for communication and sharing of information and training on key business processes related to financial and project management.
- Initiate purposeful outreach and connection across departments and regions.
What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
- Passion for architecture, engineering, accounting, consulting, or other professional services industry.
- Strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to learn quickly and build strong relationships.
- Experience with business financials (e.g. billing) and data management preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
- Substantial experience with Excel and some experience with SharePoint preferred.

The pay range for this position is $25.49 - $38.51 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
