Carolina PRG has partnered with a Charlotte Based Headquarters to identify an Assistant Corporate Controller for this newly created role. The Assistant Corporate Controller is a very dynamic, highly visible and active role reporting to an EXCEPTIONAL Corporate Controller. The Corporate Controller has an incredible leadership style - she allows her leaders to manage the way they feel is best, but also provides them with the guidance to grow in their careers. This position will fill a key role within the Finance organization leading the Corporate Accounting Team. This individual will be the primary technical accounting expert interacting daily with a broad, cross functional group of operational, financial, and corporate teams to evaluate business decisions and the impact on financial statements.
The Assistant Corporate Controller will serve an important role as the Company continues to grow both organically and through acquisitions expanding their business models. This role will be responsible for a wide range of activities to include financial reporting and overseeing/coordinating the month-end close for the Corporate entities. This individual will work closely with the site accounting teams as each site’s financial statements are prepared and evaluated each month. They will serve as the primary technical accounting subject matter expert and should be able to communicate complex accounting conclusions to non-accountants. The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen, critical thinking proficiency, and strong communication skills. The candidate must be customer-centric and have the ability to work in a complex entrepreneurial environment where ingenuity, rather than precedence, drives how things should be done.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Corporate Accounting Team whose functions include financial reporting and month-end close accounting
- Lead the Corporate Accounting month-end close process including collaboration with the Site Accounting teams
- Serve as the lead for developing and documenting accounting conclusions for various transactions ranging from simple to complex
- Work closely with the FP&A team during the budgeting process and on a monthly basis to understand and communicate financial results
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting of Corporate and consolidated results monthly
- Work closely with the Treasury team on quarterly reporting and covenant compliance
- Evaluate financial and operational process changes to improve efficiency and scalability
- Serve as an accounting resource for the Corporate and Site Accounting teams
- Participate in the continued optimization of the Company’s ERP system
- Support Strategic Finance, Site Accounting, Business Development, and FP&A on acquisition evaluation and acquisition accounting
- Develop, coordinate, communicate and enforce financial reporting policies, procedures and controls across the accounting organization
- Collaborate across multiple departments including accounting, strategic finance, operations, legal, business development, etc.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and drive efficiencies
- Drive automation of financial and operational reporting processes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years of accounting leadership experience in a public accounting or corporate accounting environment that demonstrates a commanding knowledge in accounting and 6+ years of total accounting experience
- Prior experience within a Big Four or large regional accounting firm highly preferred
- Proven knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to simplify complex accounting topics to non-accountants
- Knowledge of internal accounting controls, industry practices and the ability to research and document complex accounting and financial topics
- Ability to think on their feet in meetings and provide real time solutioning and brainstorming
- Comfortable professionally debating potential solutions and a demonstrated willingness to listen and provide multiple accounting alternatives to address requests
- Proven ability to manage and develop accounting talent
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel and Word.
- Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in Accounting required
- Active CPA license or CPA licensure in process is required.
