Under general supervision, provides advanced or specialized technical assistance in the preparation, development, analysis and monitoring of an assigned portion of the annual school budget. Complex work is performed with specific departmental objectives and policies. Contacts are frequently made at all organizational levels within and outside the school division. Actions impact multiple organizational units and considerable professional judgment is required.
Essential Job Functions:
Contacts: Daily contact with department personnel including fiscal techs, coordinators and directors, human resource administrators, finance department personnel and County personnel including accounts payable and purchasing. Contact with assistant superintendents, directors and outside vendors as needed.

Advanced knowledge of school and local government budgeting procedures and best practices. Advanced familiarity with state, federal and local laws, especially concerning public administration and school budgeting. Experience/familiarity with Virginia Department of Education funding is strongly desired.
Skill in advanced mathematics, business analytics, forecasting, and research are required. Ability to read, interpret, synthesize, and analyze data and translate any findings into recommendations that can be easily understood and applied is strongly desired.
Knowledge in various computer applications:
- Financial software/Enterprise Resource Planning Systems
- Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel applications (formula, pivot tables, etc.)
- Google - GSuite
Ability to communicate effectively and concisely in both written and oral mediums; Strong ability to organize, meet deadlines, and analyze/react to complex situations. Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively to establish and maintain good working relationships; excellent customer service skills; tact, and courtesy.
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, political science, business, finance, or other related degree or any equivalent combination of experience and training which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
