Climate Generation ignites and sustains the ability of youth, educators, and communities to act on systems perpetuating the climate crisis. Based in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, Climate Generation strategically engages and empowers youth, educators, decision-makers and the public to foster climate literacy and action with the goal of building a more equitable and resilient future for all.

Purpose:
The Fund Development Manager provides strategic and tactical resource development and revenue building efforts from institutional and individual donors. This position provides leadership for prospecting research, writing, submitting and reporting on funding requests to institutional donors(foundations, government, corporate and civic organizations), and partners with the Executive Director on individual donor efforts.
Duties and responsibilities:
Development – 85%
- Prospecting research of current and new institutional funders.
- Leads development and writing of proposals and reports to institutional funders, along with any stewardship communication.
- Stewards relationships with institutional funders, develops and writes regular communications to institutional donors.
- Schedules, prepares, and participates in key meetings with institutional funders in collaboration with the Executive Director and any other relevant team members.
- Creates and meets annual institutional fundraising goals.
- Collaborates with program teams to ideate and draft proposal narratives and reports.
- Stays abreast of the climate crisis.
- Partners with the Executive Director and Communications team to develop a series of well-crafted, quarterly fundraising campaigns.
- Assists with development of email appeals.
- Develops sponsorship materials and solicitations for our primary events: Conference of the Parties (COP), Youth Climate Justice Summit and the Summer Institute.
- Ensure institutional gift solicitation is entered into the Raiser’s Edge database.
- Maintains template proposals for each program area and general operations annually and as needed.
Organizational Engagement: 15%
- Engage in Climate Generation team functions, including events, team meetings, and strategic planning.
- Use internal communication tools to collaborate with the full team (Google Drive, Slack, Zoom, Asana).
- Organizes and implements processes that ensure effective, efficient, and accurate grant solicitation and reporting.
- Support and participate in anti-racism, organizational culture, and annual and project planning work across the organization.
- Participate in opportunities for professional development.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years Experience with non-profit fundraising and grant writing specifically.
- Progressive ideas and grants project management experience with a strong passion for climate change issues.
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment with the ability to meet the diverse needs of internal and external stakeholders.
- A commitment to working at an anti-racist organization.
- Ability to work in an agile environment, being flexible and adaptable to change.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple competing priorities.
- Authenticity and an interest in having fun at work.
- Experience working with Raiser’s Edge is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Annual Salary Hiring Range: 59,000 – 61,800.
- Full benefit package that includes: medical, dental, group life, Simple IRA with employer match, FSA and HSA options, PTO, paid holidays (including 3 floating), final week of December full-team paid break for rest and rejuvenation, mileage and cell phone/home internet reimbursement.
