The Opportunity
Responsible for overseeing the day to day activities and supervision, training and development of a group of professionals. Responsible for review of financial statements; preparation of various reports; implementation of accounting policy and technical research related to accounting issues. Serves as technical expert to internal clients and provides resolution of complex and/or high-risk issues regarding assigned financial reports and analysis. Works under minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- As a manager, provides direction to an assigned group. Oversees performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions. Aligns individual report's goals with that of department, business and corporation. Evaluates staff training needs to prepare for growth and development. Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are effectively developed, implemented, and communicated for workgroup. Ensures adherence to corporate and business programs.
- Reviews and approves alternative solutions to prevent continued issues. Champions continuous improvement efforts. Assesses and supports the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements. Proactively supports, encourages and facilitates staff to engage in continuous improvement activities.
- Prepares, enters and posts limited complex journal entries. Review statutory account analysis. Presents results to management. May assist with resolving complex variances. Identify and implement alternative solutions to prevent continued issues.
- Reviews audit deliverables for quality. May prepare complex deliverables as needed. Assist with managing audit deliverables. Regular interaction with external auditors.
- Ensures compliance with government regulations. Will help troubleshoot system issues. Participates in various system implementations and enhancements related to financial systems.
- Prepares monthly/quarterly complex financial statements and various reports. Reviews financial statements and reports for accuracy. Assists with coordinating monthly and quarterly financial deliverables to management.
- Reviews account reconciliations and manages resolution of escalated reconciliation issues. Ensures reconciliations are being completed. Identifies and/or reviews risk and opportunities and assesses reasonableness of balances.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.
- Typically 7+ years related experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hiring and supervising professionals preferred.
Technical Competencies:
- Knowledge of FAR and CAS preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft (Excel, Word, Access,) Intermediate
- Technical accounting knowledge, Intermediate
- Knowledge of Financial Statement analysis, Intermediate
- Knowledge of foreign currency terminology and concepts, Intermediate
- Must have Customer Focus, Problem Solving and Strong Analytical skills, Action Oriented and Detail Oriented
Certifications
- Certified Public Accountant a plus
