POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Sr. Financial Analyst at Tire Discounters will provide leadership in the annual budget preparation, financial forecasting and provide data-driven insights regarding financial and operational improvement to support the company's growth and profitability objectives. Additionally, the position will be responsible for leading the implementation of financial systems which will enhance the budgeting, reporting, analysis of the accounting and finance organization. The role will also entail a significant amount of ad-hoc financial analysis to support key the company's strategy development and initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Compile and summarize financial data to prepare regular reports on the company's financial status and risks, providing insightful analysis on performance trends.
- Consolidate, analyze and review financial data, including financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, contribute to the development of specialized financial reports and analyses to assess the company's financial position.
- Perform accounting functions for Distribution Centers, ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting. Prepare account reconciliations, review period-end financial statements and research variances
- Conduct Profit & Loss (P&L) analysis for the assigned segment(s), identifying key financial drivers.
- Provide operational analysis to support Distribution Centers, focusing on inventory management and logistics efficiency.
- Monitor and evaluate financial status by comparing actual results to budget, prior periods, and forecasts, highlighting variances and trends.
- Collaborate with the Information Technology team to develop a financial reporting and budgeting platform, aiming to reduce reliance on spreadsheets and streamline preparation processes.
- Track and report on key financial and operational metrics to assess company performance against strategic goals.
- Continuously update job knowledge by staying informed about industry trends and developments.
- Lead process improvement and policy development initiatives that positively impact the finance function and overall organizational efficiency.
- Monitor and project cash flow to ensure the company meets its liquidity and funding requirements, making recommendations to optimize cash management.
- Conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analyses to assess the potential impact of different financial strategies, risks, and market conditions.
- Assist with financial due diligence, modeling, impact analysis, and integration planning for mergers or acquisitions to business decisions.
- Perform detailed variance analysis between actual and forecasted results, identifying root causes and opportunities for improvement.

- Work closely with other departments such as marketing, operations, and sales to align financial forecasts and budgets with broader company goals.

Requirements:

- Strong understanding of financial principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, along with the ability to interpret complex financial statements and reports, and a foundational knowledge of accounting standards and practices.
- Meticulous attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis to ensure accuracy and reliability while applying critical thinking to assess financial situations, identify issues, and develop strategic solutions that provide actionable insights.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present financial concepts and analyses to diverse audiences, including senior management.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks effectively.

- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, fostering relationships that facilitate open communication and teamwork to achieve financial objectives.
- Proficient in financial modeling, reporting software, and data analysis tools, including advanced Microsoft Excel functions (XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIF, and IF-THEN statements) for dynamic formula development and conditional calculations. Skilled in Power BI or Tableau for effective data manipulation, reporting, and visualization.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field. MBA or a Master's degree in Finance is preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Financial Analyst, with proven expertise in corporate finance, information analysis, and financial forecasting.
- Experience managing financial information across multiple locations, stores, or departments.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas and functions.
- Familiarity with SAGE financial systems is a plus.
