Purchasing Supervisor
Objective Oversees the Purchasing team, coordinates inventory planning, and executes purchase orders to ensure stock levels meet required parameters and support manufacturing and customer demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Directly guide, mentor, and lead the Purchasing Team.
- Train and hold team members accountable to work standards.
- Plan, execute, and expedite purchased materials via SAP MRP messages to align with build schedules and achieve customer on-time delivery goals.
- Collaborate with Production Planning and Operations teams to address and resolve discrepancies between supply capabilities and production plans.
- Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with internal customers to ensure operational requirements are met.
- Collaborate with inventory personnel to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Work with the aftermarket spare parts department to ensure proper flow to meet customer demand, facilitating parts shortage review meetings as necessary.
- Train and educate both new and experienced team members on SAP and inventory planning processes used at SAI.
- Lead efforts to reduce supplier costs and improve service levels.
- Analyze and update SAP material master and inventory planning parameters according to the data cleansing schedule.
- Prepare various metrics reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements
Physical Demands:
- Perform sedentary work approximately 90% of the time using a computer and other office equipment.
- Move within the office and production areas about 10% of the time to access files, office equipment, and communicate with colleagues.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or a related field is required.
- APICS Certification is preferred.
Experience:
- Over 5 years of experience in supply chain, production planning, and/or purchasing.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficient in using SAP with a solid understanding and familiarity with fabricated and welded parts for heavy equipment.
- Strong leadership, customer service, project management, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Basic PC skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize and coordinate complex activities.
