Job Description:
The Director of Technical Accounting and Investments is responsible for overseeing the research and conclusions for Prime’s technical accounting matters. This position oversees the research, development, and drafting of position papers/policies on the accounting and financial consequences of unique and significant transactions, as well as new and emerging accounting standards. This role is responsible for reviewing these conclusions with the Senior Director of Financial Reporting and Controller, as well as with the Company's external auditors. Additionally, this position is responsible for the accounting and reporting associated with the Company’s strategic investments, statutory regulatory entities, and captive insurance.
This position interacts with departments across the organization and will also be visible to several members of the executive leadership team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all technical and accounting policy needs of the organization, directing the delivery of activities related to process and system improvement, system implementation, and automation projects related to the accounting function on budget and on time.
- Oversee the General Accounting and Financial Reporting functions related to the Company’s equity method investments, consolidating entities, statutory insurance companies, charitable foundation, and captive insurance.
- Monitor internal controls over financial reporting.
- Lead the successful completion of both internal and external audits associated with the entities mentioned above and implement agreed-upon recommendations.
- Provide comprehensive, accurate, timely, and relevant financial analysis and reporting to Prime management relevant to the Company’s equity method investments, consolidating entities, statutory insurance companies, charitable foundation, and captive insurance.
- Lead, coach, and manage team members to deliver on departmental goals, coordinate workload, ensure quality, establish procedures, meet client/customer expectations, and manage the costs of the services being provided.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience; HS diploma or GED is required.
- 8 years of work experience in Accounting or Finance.
- 5 years of management/people leadership experience focusing on coaching and developing the team.
- Must be able to work in the United States without the need for work visa or residency sponsorship.
Additional Qualifications:
- Very strong analytical skills.
- Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution-oriented.
- Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Evidenced experience leading large teams.
- 4 years of public accounting experience and experience leading an accounting department.
- Previous supervisory/management experience, ideally in a high growth environment.
- Experience working with all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders, with an ability to influence for greater outcomes.
- Proven ability and desire to build and lead an effective, high performing team.
- PBM/Healthcare industry experience.
- Statutory reporting and captive insurance experience.
Minimal Physical Job Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Constantly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk and hear.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports to Sr Director or Vice President in the Finance department.
Potential pay for this position ranges from $125,200.00 - $200,000.00 based on experience and skills. Pay range may vary by 8% depending on applicant location.
