By joining our Office of Audits, Division of Road Fund Audits, Kentucky Highway Use tax (KYU), Kentucky Intrastate Tax (KIT) BRANCH as an Auditor I, you’ll have the opportunity to perform beginning professional level audit work in the analysis of financial and statistical records, reports statements, and accounting policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares work papers, ensuring that they are complete to support audit findings, recommendations, and reports; and that they are completed in an agreed upon manner.
- Conducts preliminary research to audit. Begins applying professional auditing standards, methods, and procedures to identify, analyze and make recommendations as required.
- Conducts fieldwork portion of audit with some assistance and examines documentation to ensure compliance with federal and/or state policies and regulations.
- Develops a working knowledge of applicable federal and state policies and regulations and assists in the development of the audit program and audit report.
Skills:
- Become proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Become proficient in data entry and typing.
- Become proficient in the analysis of financial and statistical data.
Desired Skills or Experience:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree (which includes twenty semester hours or thirty quarter hours in accounting).
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Certification as Certified Public Accountant or as a Certified Internal Auditor will substitute for the required education.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions: Incumbents working in this job title generally perform duties in an office setting. Frequent travel to audit sites required.
Probationary Period: This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
