The Assistant Controller will report directly to the VP Controller and be a key member of the Property Accounting Leadership Team. The position will work closely with the Chief Accounting Officer, VP Controller, and the Property Accounting Team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with the VP Controller to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and consistency.
- Assist Property Accounting Team by supporting both routine and critical risk mitigation functions specifically Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Tax Audits, Accounts, Cash Management, Financial Statement Reviews, and Fixed Asset Accounting.
- Direct supervision of Property Accountants, onboarding, and ongoing training for team members.
- Assist Property Accounting Team in determining and applying proper accounting treatment for both routine and complex transactions.
- Assist in the monthly Partnership Accounting and Ownership Reporting process.
- Optimize value for the portfolio of properties through risk mitigation and compliance monitoring efforts which lead to improved and consistent financial fundamentals for both the Accounting Team and the Properties as well as operating efficiencies.
- Partner with the Accounting Team to enhance and perpetuate a culture of financial discipline.
- Continuously look for ways to automate and streamline accounting functions.
- Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3-5 years of Hospitality Accounting/Financial experience and leadership preferred.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skillset. M3 experience a plus.
- Excellent management, relationship building, and leadership skills.
- Highly responsive to internal and external customers.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Drive for continuous improvement in an Accounting and Service environment.
- Minimum requirement bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance or Business.
- Strong Accounting and Finance skills.
