JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Accountant performs high-level professional accounting functions and financial reporting of the City’s funds. This position performs in-depth analyses related to fiscal and financial project and reports including the Annual Comprehensive Annual Report (ACFR). This position will work with the Financial Services staff to perform maintenance and training and is responsible for reconciliation of the General Fund adopted budget vs available budget. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the administration and implementation of new Department of Revenue Administration and Government Accounting Standards, reconciling the general ledger accounts, auditing payment authorizations reports, interacting with all levels of personnel through the City, preparation of audit worksheets and performing analytical accounting procedures for auditors. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, is part of the UAW Professional Bargaining Unit and provides an excellent work-life balance. The position is grade 15, with an hourly rate not to exceed $35.40.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, finance, business or related field is preferred
- Three to five years of related experience; a combination of education and experience will be considered
- Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and software, particularly accounting software, necessary to complete the requirements of this position
- Excellent supervisory and analytical skills are important along with excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
