Job Description
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid position for the Kansas City campus will fulfill a critical role in the recruitment process of facilitating the financial packaging of each prospective student prior to enrollment. The position involves counseling, negotiating payment arrangements, processing applications, and ultimately awarding aid. The position reports and works closely with the Corporate Director of Financial Aid and has a highly collaborative relationship with the Admissions Department. The position is a full-time position with benefits: PTO, Health, Vision, Dental, and 401K. Standard Schedule Monday - Friday, no weekends. Compensation based on experience.
Job Duties:
- Meets with prospective students to discuss funding options and develop a financial plan.
- Contacts students and prospective students to acquire, clarify and update student information as needed to complete the process.
- Tracks progress of individual financial aid applicants who require follow-up.
- Works closely with the Admissions Department to move prospective students through the process in a timely manner.
- Maintains financial aid applicant files and incorporates them into Master Student Files, once enrolled.
- Maintains records in compliance with the Department of Education and ABHES.
- Works with third party servicer, as well as various government agencies including VA, TA, WIA, and VR, to efficiently process student loans and grants.
- Updates Student Confirmation Report every 60 days (NSLDS).
- Reports status of all loan and FSA activities to the Corporate Director of Financial Aid, as appropriate.
- Works with default management company to maintain a low default rate.
- Processes return of FSA for students who withdraw.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Help to efficiently move students through the financial aid application process. Always provide positive reinforcement to prospective students and their family members.
- Provide responsive support and feedback to Admissions staff regarding status of student applicants.
- Proactively overcome obstacles in the packaging and disbursement of financial aid to accelerate the enrollment process and the timely receipt of funds.
- Disburse FSA within federal guidelines, working closely with third party servicer to maintain compliance. Identify any areas of possible non-compliance and recommend procedures for speedy correction.
- Always maintain the accuracy and completeness of all FA files within compliance standards of ED and ABHES.
