Job Purpose and Impact
The Cargill tax department is looking for an experienced, well-rounded, senior tax professional who is interested in joining an integrated cross-functional tax team responsible for Cargill’s overall US income tax reporting and compliance responsibilities.
The Senior Tax Analyst II (State Tax Emphasis) will perform a wide array of US state, federal, and international income tax analysis with respect to Cargill's global activities. In this role, you will communicate with businesses and tax personnel regarding key issues impacting US state and federal income tax as well as associated tax compliance and reporting obligations.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the corporate income/franchise tax life cycle for key US state, federal, and international tax matters, including advising on tax technical issues (accounting methods, E&P and Subpart F calculations, analysis of tax credits, apportionment, nexus, state specific attributes, etc.), participating in the management of uncertain positions and assisting in tax audits.
- Coordinate the provision of information to state and federal tax examiners during audits, research tax technical issues and identify risks/opportunities that might bring additional tax cost/benefit for the company.
- Participate in US state, federal, and international tax projects and coordinate their respective implementation.
- Advise on tax matters applicable to a day-to-day transaction of the businesses. Consult on the appropriate tax treatment and document and improve related business processes for the purpose of creating a control framework.
- Assist in the preparation and review of income tax account reconciliations.
- You will work under minimal supervision and independently handle complex tax issues while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Guide and train new and junior team members.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of four years of related US state, federal, or international income tax work experience
- Experience in multi-state and federal corporate tax compliance, advisory or auditing/controversy
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with a wide range of US state, federal, and international tax regimes and concepts (ASC 740, Foreign Tax Credit, R&D Credit, 163(j), Consolidated Returns, Income Tax Nexus Principles, Unitary Business principle, Subpart F / GILTI etc.)
- Proficiency with Corptax tax preparation software and Microsoft suite of applications
- Proven ability to work with and manage large amounts of data
- CPA or Master of Business Taxation
