Job Description:
The Credit Risk Manager is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and validating various First Party Fraud & Credit Abuse strategies. These strategies include, but are not limited to, adjudication, account and exposure management, collection treatments, financial return optimization. This role provides essential information, interpretative and detailed analysis, and assists in implementing key fraud strategies to ensure decisions are made within the TD risk appetite framework, adhere to fraud standards, and comply with all regulatory requirements and guidelines.
Depth & Scope:
- Demonstrates governance, control and risk management behaviors in alignment with TD policies and practices
- Leads/participates in the identification, development and implementation of new initiatives, operating workflow, additional services/applications or operational efficiencies including potentially leading special project teams or cross-functional work groups
- Assists with developing and enhancing credit risk assessment capabilities to identify and maintain good business opportunities with new and existing clients
- Performs detailed analysis and interprets information to make recommendations to Senior Management on critical strategies including non-standard and ad-hoc requests as determined by management
- Creates reports on the results of implemented strategies, using all appropriate quantitative methods and MIS, and makes recommendations to increase efficiencies and revenue while managing credit risk
- Effectively works cross-functionally with teams outside of risk
- Works with Internal Audit / External Regulators, to ensure that documentation for all work processes is complete and up-to-date
- Ensures sound credit control by taking a proactive approach to risk management within the risk guidelines of the Bank
- Ensures the timely communication of issues that are relevant to the team and encourages a good working relationship with other internal and external groups
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required; Graduate degree preferred (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance or Computer Science)
- 5+ years of experience in First party fraud or credit risk management within the credit card sector of financial services preferred
- Understanding of payment risk, fraud life cycle management, including emerging fraud risks and trends is desired
- Extensive experience working with SAS, SQL, Python, R, MATLAB, Tableau, etc. preferred
- Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills, with ability to identify patterns, trends, and insights; Conduct risk/reward trade-off analysis preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
