Summary
The Financial Accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting for the fund, day-to-day financial activities, managing participating pension fund cash management and supporting the CFO in providing sound fiscal management of FPIF through financial reporting and planning.
This opportunity is onsite at the FPIF office Monday through Friday during standard business hours and may entail occasional overtime.
Responsibilities
The Financial Accountant will have the following specific responsibilities, which shall include, but not be limited to:
- Assist in completion of month-end accounting close process.
- Assist in preparing annual financial statements, including the ACFR reporting, in accordance with GAAP for the FPIF fund and participating pension fund level.
- Assist with the preparation of annual budget and financial forecasts related to the budget.
- Process, review, and approve constituent pension fund transactions via fund banking portal.
- Manage the cash contribution and withdrawal process with participating pension funds.
- Manage FPIF cash flow and cash flow projection data.
- Assist with the preparation of work papers and other deliverables for all external audits of FPIF.
- Process bi-monthly accounts payable.
- Prepare, track and process expense reports.
- Provide staff assistance to the Audit and Compliance Committee.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree or CPA preferred.
- 3 to 6 years of experience as an accounting professional preferred.
- Experience with a public pension fund or similar public sector experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, keen attention to detail required.
- Strong writing and communication skills required.
- Willingness to work in a small office environment required.
- Applied knowledge of Office 365 required.
