Job Overview
Perform a variety of accounting tasks to ensure accurate accounting systems and record keeping. Emphasis will be placed on all aspects of Material Sales, Bank Reconciliations, Lease and Loan Accounting, Fixed Assets and Depreciation accounting and data entry support for the Project Accounting team.
Primary Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of this role include the following:
- Prepare bank reconciliations for all company accounts and distribute various cash reports.
- Prepares miscellaneous billings; tracks internal and external material sales; prepare and send invoices to customers. Print monthly customer statements if necessary.
- Assemble all fuel purchase and usage information to make the monthly journal entry adjusting fuel inventory. Prepare and file the monthly MN Fuel Tax Refund.
- Prepares and reconciles various job costing entries relating to construction projects.
- Coordinate all trucking usage information used to prepare MNDOT Compliance Trucking Reports. Prepare and mail to various MNDOT locations timely and accurately.
- Fixed Asset reporting to include reporting for construction equipment fleet which includes accounting for loans and leases, depreciation schedules, and reconciliations.
- Respond to information requests and questions from management and operations personnel timely and accurately.
- A/P backup.
- Provide assistance in preparation of various schedules and documents for independent auditors.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 2 or 4 year degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Business or Finance.
- 2 – 5 years of accounting experience, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Basic understanding of bookkeeping and/or accounting procedures and techniques.
- Strong analysis, organization, time management, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexible, inventive, positive attitude – self-starter with a collaborative desire to see the team succeed.
- Comfortable communicating with all levels of the organization.
- Construction industry experience a plus.
