The Tactical Communications Analyst will be supporting multiple C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) programs, more specifically mobile combat communication (voice, data, and video) solutions integrated into armored tactical wheeled vehicle platforms employed to plan, request, coordinate, and conduct terminal attack control of strike aircraft executing close air support (CAS) missions at the halt (ATH) or on the move (OTM) in support of Army ground force maneuver operations.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables and their compliance with System Requirements Document (SRD), System/Subsystem Specification (SSS), and Statement of Work (SOW).
- Work cross-functionally with Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, RF Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Cyber Security Engineers to incorporate Human Systems Integration (HSI) principles and practices into the design, integration, test, and planning for support in accordance with MIL-STD-46855A.
- Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
- Establish plans, processes, and how-to guides (e.g., HSI validation checklists in support of MIL-STD-1472G), train personnel, execute and manage efforts.
- Perform task analysis, usability-related risk analyses, UI evaluations, and provide design recommendations.
- Conduct user inquiries, user studies, data gathering, and data analysis.
- Develop, construct, and install prototypes.
- Illustrate detailed design and behaviors of critical components of the Human Machine Interface (HMI).
- Conduct user evaluations with Government participation.
- Periodically perform support, fielding, and training at various CONUS/OCONUS military bases.
- Provide subject matter expertise (SME) and support to iGov departments, e.g., product sales, business development, logistics, production, etc.
Essential Required Experience & Skills:
- At least 2 years of direct, hands-on Tactical Communications or Tactical Information Technology (IT) experience.
- Strong understanding of C4ISR fixed and mobile systems design, installation, maintenance, and operation including:
- AN/PRC-117G, AN/PRC-160, AN/PRC-163, AN/PRC-167, and AN/PRC-161 radios and associated peripherals.
- 7800i Intercom and Keyboard Display (KD) devices.
- Tactical ROVER-p and ROVER-e Transceivers.
- Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR).
- Close Air Support System (CASS).
- Digital Intercom System Control Center (DCC).
- Soft-Keypad Application (SKA).
- Communications Planning Application (CPA).
- Aptitude for Human Systems Interface (HSI) and a fundamental knowledge of:
- MIL-STD-46855A - Human Engineering Requirements for Military Systems, Equipment, and Facilities.
- MIL-STD-1472G - Design Criteria Standard for Human Engineering.
- Strong communication skills-both written and verbal with the ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences.
- Team player able to work collaboratively with and through others.
- Astute observer with effective root cause identification and problem-solving skills.
- Forward looking with a holistic approach.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Tactical Air Control Part (TACP) experience-Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) certification a plus-or 4 years of experience as a Radio Terminal Operator (RTO) or its equivalent.
- Experience in architecting, engineering, and developing radio, network, or power solutions.
- Experience testing, integrating, and fielding complex radio and network systems.
- Fundamental knowledge of the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) process.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, computer science, or an equivalent combination of role-relevant training and experience.
