STAFF TAX ACCOUNTANT (hybrid)

ARC Group has an immediate opportunity for a Staff Tax Accountant with our direct client in their Miami, FL offices. The Staff Tax Accountant will work for an industry-leading distributor with over 200 locations ($3B) throughout the US, LATAM, and the Caribbean.
This is a hybrid role split between the office and work from home. This is a direct hire, so applicants must have permanent work authorization.
Position Summary
The Staff Tax Accountant position is responsible for functioning in a professional and knowledgeable manner. This position is an experienced level position that reports directly to the Tax Manager and will perform the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities/Duties
- Assist in performing the extraction and validation of monthly sales tax data from the ERP System and Avatax Tax Software. Once validated, this data will be provided to a third-party service provider (currently EY) to prepare the corresponding sales tax returns.
- Assist with the review and approval of the completed sales tax returns for internal audiences and outside preparer to file these returns on behalf of the company.
- Assist in managing vendor relationships and coordinate internal activities surrounding all internal check requests needed to fund the corresponding sales tax liabilities associated with these returns.
- Perform similar duties as shown above as it relates to personal property tax returns, as the client contracts with a third-party provider to prepare these returns.
- Assist in preparing all required monthly journal entries and account reconciliations relating to Sales and Use tax, Property tax, Real Estate Tax, Franchise Tax, and Unclaimed Property.
- Maintain the corresponding Tax Tables in the ERP system to ensure that customers are always charged the most up-to-date tax rates in the applicable jurisdictions that the company is registered to collect tax.
- Assist Tax Manager in managing all tax audits and any other requests made by State or Local authorities. This includes coordinating and ensuring receipt of supporting documentation from CE Regional Personnel.
- Assist Tax Manager in answering any tax-related questions the team may have regarding jurisdictions, the ERP, or tax software. This includes coordinating with the Third-Party Vendor for additional guidance when needed.
- Responsible for coordination of all activities associated with ensuring that all applicable regional locations maintain current business licenses.
- Responsible for coordination and payment of all income tax payments with the parent corporation.
- Assist in answering notices received and ensuring compliance in all jurisdictions. Similar coordination may be required to support any efforts to obtain tax refunds related to sales/use tax, as well as property tax.
- Responsible for coordinating escheatment/unclaimed funds filings with all applicable states/jurisdictions. This includes managing the Unclaimed Property relationship and ensuring that all requests from the outside vendor are obtained and submitted.
- Assist Tax Manager with research regarding new sales and use tax reporting requirements and law changes and communicating these changes to the appropriate individuals at the company on a timely basis.
- Assist in completing Nexus Analysis Studies on a periodic basis to ensure the company remains compliant in all jurisdictions.
- Assist in registering new companies/locations in new jurisdictions as needed to meet all tax filing requirements.
- Responsible for managing the Use Tax Process. This includes reviewing fixed asset invoices and assessing use tax as needed and reporting this information to the third-party provider to ensure data is included in the Sales Tax Returns.
- Ensure the company complies with all tax-related reporting requirements and that tax-related records are properly maintained.
- Assist in preparation of monthly Cash Flow Statements.
- Assist with year-end Tax Reporting Packages and ad hoc requests.
- Significant involvement in the month-end closing process.
- Identify and manage projects to drive process improvements.
- Assist with Internal Audit requirements.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience Requirements
- Currently hold a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 3 or more years of experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience with the responsibilities/duties listed above.
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Excel and Word.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with a strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality regarding the information processed.
- Ability to work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other corporate and operational team members.
- Ability to work well under pressure and within short deadlines.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
